was this flight in June 2011 ?
if so, the following from another site would be of interest to you:
29th June 2011 - G-BNWW BA163 Diversion.
BA163 London Heathrow - Tel Aviv operated by Boeing 767-336ER G-BNWW diverted via Larnaca for approximately an hour. We understand that there were problems with the runway lights at Tel Aviv causing several diversions.
This would suggest to me that this wasnt known about prior to your departure from LHR and as such there would be no way of telling you in advance.
over the last few months several of the LHR-TLV services have operated via LCA in one direction or another, previous to this issue it was because i think of contaminated fuel in TLV
