This pretty much exactly sums up my family's point of view and I don't know of any grandparents in Honshu with grandchildren being raised elsewhere who don't feel immensely relieved about these kids being difficult and expensive to visit for the forseeable future.
I see where RichardInSF's point of view comes from and there was a time I might have shared it, but not now. One unlucky purchase of spinach, another freakily tainted glass of water, then an unfortunate batch of minced beef are successively and enthusiastically fed to a tiny 10kg body and I, as a parent, have failed in one of my principal duties to give my child the best possible start to life.
No wonder people in Japan are worried.
Thanks OSora for keeping us updated. Otousan is up for eye surgery in September so our direct communication with Japan is particularly restricted at the moment.
