I arrive at FRA about 715 for the 830 flight back to JFK. Taking the S-bahn to the airport is incredibly easy and quick. There was a small line at the counter. I presented myself in the premium line (side-note, its hard to tell if there are separate lines for business and first, seemed like one line but a first counter and a business counter). An agent came up and asked where I was travelling to, and whether I was flying economy or business. "First," I told him and he immediately directed me to the agent at the first class counter. She quickly and efficiently checked me in, when I asked about moving to a seat in row 1 or 2 she explained the cabin was booked to 11 out of 12. She advised me that I could access the LH lounge, but that it would require going through one or two extra security checks, so it was up to me. Normally I'm a big lounge guy, but I was about to have all the food and drink I could handle onboard. What I really wanted was a quick shower so I decided to go back to the LuxxLounge very nearby to the ticket counter for that. The shower room was quite nice, small but a hot shower with a real shower head, en suite toilet, shampoo, soap, and towels.
After that I headed to the flight. It appeared most of the flight had boarded so after a quick photo I walked down to the plane, where I was greeted, and escorted to my seat. Once at my seat I was quickly offered a drink, with OJ or water suggested, but when I asked if Champagne available I was assured that it was. I also got a glass of the orange juice. What I have to say about the drinks: I tried both the Dom and Krug during the flight, and to be honest I found neither one any more appealing to me then the normal cheap stuff I drink (yes I know, my palate is an insult to champagne). I did however find the fresh squeezed orange juice to be some of the best I'd ever had and probably enjoyed about 10 glasses throughout the flight.
