this is as you can see me first post. I hope that my issue is placed in the right place.

Due to work I will be in the US for half year. In two frequent flyer programms I sill need some miles for my next award flights. Therefore I was thinking about singing up for respective credit cards that come with a bonus. I am eligible to apply for credit cards in the US but was wondering if any periods of cancelation do exist. Can I cancel the credit cards after a few weeks and keep the miles or do I have to keep the card (and keep on paying annual fees) for a few years?
