Good protection and 6 year travel experience with S Notebook which is the polycarbonate and fabric combination (Lufthansa Worldshop model). That model includes a slip cover for your MacBook, interior pockets for loads extras: More than I could ever take (Mp3, headphones, CD, DVD-DL, flash drives, cables, cameras, papers, small books).
Note that this model is unique to LH, just as other Rimowa series are for Porsche, etc.
Better protection I think can be obtained with the Rimowa Aluminum attaches: I have used a Rimowa " Slim " attache since 1994 (Sony Vaio) without problems. An Ipad or Ipad 2 would slip into any Rimowa attache. The difference is that you carry the attache, or strap it to your carry-on, whereas the S Notebook slips over the double handle of say the Rimowa Topas, Hybrid, Salsa carry-ons as one unit.
So you have good choices and options when travelling with your MacBook.
I note LAX is your location: You might try Rimowa on Rodeo Drive to see and try your MacbookPro inside all of the various model lines they have on display, or take a look at the Das Bags website.
Thanks Swissaire. I plan to visit the Rimowa store soon.
