The Swiss Transfer ticket is indeed cheaper than the Swiss Card, but has no discount on the mountain train. I am also not sure if the transfer ticket will get you all the way to Wengen (or maybe even Kleine Scheidegg?) to cut down the cost of the mountain train somewhat. Also, as poster noted, it needs to be purchased before your trip.
