Walking poles as carry on luggage?

Afternoon all,

Any FTers tried taking a pair of walking poles into the cabin? Mine are telescopic, fold down to about 60-70cm Sadly they don't have the rubber "thimble" covering over the end, which leaves a barely sharp point (like a ski pole, I guess).

Looked in the baggage section on BA.com without success.

I thank you all ...
