About the breakfast at JW: It was not bad... it was just not on level with any breakfast i had in any *wood property or Marriott property in Thailand.
4Points breakfast was better and the Courtyards breakfasts are about the same level as at the JW Khao Lak. ( except the very nice smoothie station )
I was asked by a western staff member who we would enjoy the breakfast on the first morning, i reported that i think it is weak in comparison to the LeMeridien. He told me that he did hear this by some guests already and asked me about the difference.
And in 2011 there was no salmon at all , and the cheese and bread selection was pretty poor.... very slow refills... We really did not enjoy the breakfast at JW Khao Lak.
The only negative points i have for the breakfast at Meridien... there was no spoon for the vanilla sauce one time and they did not offer camomille tea.. i think you get the difference very quick. They offered high quality cheese and ham, and a good selection of bread and rolls. All kinds of salads and fruits. Everything was restocked in time, also just some minutes before the official closing time... It was a very solid "Meridien" breakfast.

@ Tak: I paid 7000 Bath for the ugprade per night. I did not ask how much it was on points. It depends what room/rate you have booked. My first night was only about 2000Bath via BRG..

I would not want to stay at any ot the hotels during peak season. I try to avoid all touristy places during christmas - new years...
