Here is a room map of the Udaivilas

Basically you want room 102-120. These are 10 rooms joined by a private (between 10 rooms) pool overlooking the lake and lake palaces. Rooms 122-138 (9) are the same category (which is one step up from the cheapest) with the same pool but the lake on this side is scrubby in appearance.
The suites are at the rear of the resort and unlike the much cheaper shared-pool rooms do not have a lake view. You can however see the hills behind the lake. Suite 405 'Regent Suite' has its view largely obstructed by a wall:

I would suggest reserving rooms 102-120 if possible - if money is no object the suites are much larger (twice the size), the Koh-i-noor suite twice as large again, but otherwise these 'shared pool' rooms are I think the best bang for buck, as you still get to step out the back door into a pool (as with the suites), but you also get a sense of place absent in the (opulent) suites.
Note that the odd numbered 1xx rooms are convenient for the lakefront spa pool, which is MUCH nicer than the main pool, however the GM mentioned to us that children are not really welcome (thought not banned) in this pool, so this might be a consideration for you if you have children as you otherwise have quite a long walk to the main pool. We went in the main pool but there were about 100 slugs around it due to the monsoon rains and pool design which allows slugs a moist but not not flooded area. There was no attendant on duty but after my son stepped on a slug in the pool (after about 10-15 minutes there) we decided to leave at which point one arrived with cool towels and fruit. We told him we were retiring to our suite, apparently the slugs come every night, it seems to me however that they should prioritise slug removal every morning - there are dozens of gardeners trimming the remotest corners of the property so why is there not a slug eliminator - this was at noon in the heat, 12 hours after rains and plenty of time to remove any overnight slugs.
We did have a spa treatment which was mostly good and the spa manager offered us discounts/bonus treatments because of the quietness of the spa. Unfortunately however our treatments were ruined by a child screaming for half-an-hour in a nearby bedroom (or outside maybe?). The spa is not soundproofed, and is inappropriately sited with a prime view of the lake for the sole benefit of people with cucumbers in front of their eyes, whereas the quiet spot at the back is where the $$$ suites are?!
