Get a serviced apartment instead? Taxes are far lower on this compared to a hotel (7% vs 17% I think).

Just to add, at Lanson Place you get a washer/dryer in the apartment, plus of course you have a full kitchen. All helps to keep down the cost of the extras. What really impressed me was the high standard of all the fittings.
Pan Pacific also have some serviced apartments in Singapore, as do Ascott - that used to be on Scotts Road but they moved to the financial district, now very close to Lau Pau Sat IIRC.
