Right, so as FlyerChrisK showed, it's actually more expensive that way. You get the $50 "renewal" discount, but you pay $99 to do it.
Granted, you get a month for that $99, so you're not just paying $99 for a $50 discount, but if you know you're buying you're better off just buying the year.
This is aimed for people that need more than two day passes but not a full year. Nice way to capture additional revenue.
