I think that this ignorance is a little bit charming, but I wish that some you guys calmed it down a bit, why do you have to shout at each other and at everyone else? The word 'discrete' seems to be missing from the dictionary

I was at the Trevi Fountain in Rome in 2005 and whilst everyone was taking it all in, two American chaps were loudly exclaiming at each other, "Man did you know that this fountain is over 200 years old", the other, "No way man, are you sh***ing me??!!", this conversation could be heard several feet away. All of the European tourists just stared and rolled their eyes.
Your comments are pretty funny too, coming from a Brit!

I've found that older Brits are generally polite and reserved, but the generations from 30 years old and younger are definitely not following suit - it seems that the old world charm is drying up (especially when intoxicated/pissed/however you want to say it), and consumerism has taken its place.

Sad but true - the generation gap is HUGE, and things are not for the better.
