We are paying $350/night (net) for Oberoi for 10 nights including 4 nights in a pool suite in five different hotels. Aman have only three properties in India, they charge $800++/night for a six-night package, one resort is closed currently so it wouldn't really meet our 'see the standard sights in the standard tourist cities' plans.

Maybe on another occasion. But right now Oberoi fits the bill.

We had a pleasant stay at the Oberoi New Delhi, just the room service was bad and they ripped us off when we checked out. But no I wouldn't be happy paying an additional $500/night for Aman.
