You don't list your status but by your post I presume you are some sort of OneWorld elite. In that case AA should not have charged you check baggage fee for your US domestic flight. Although this is not a OW required elite benefit, some of the OW airlines do extend their free allowance to OW elites, AA and BA are two that do (IB does not!).

If it bothers you you can always email the AA customer relations and ask for compensation.
