My wife is Estonian and when we got married so she took on my family name. Her passport is on her maiden name. Now were are going to travel to Europe and our entry point is through Netherlands. I was worried about the whole name change, and called and talked with the Netherlands Embassy. They told me and I quote " you only need to have a valid passport to gain entry into the country. We will not look at any U.S papers" What this means is as long as she has a valid not expired passport she is good to travel as long as she has her marriage certificate. So bring your marriage certificate along and any other supporting documents to show that she/he is the person in question.
I dont think point of entry is the issue. It's getting on a plane if the name on the ticket doesn't match the name on the passport. (at least if you're originating in the U.S.
While traveling, there may be issues if the passport name doesnt match the name on the credit card you're trying to use.
