I agree with the Google Voice solution. It's the best one. You can also forward it to voice maill.

As for me, AA can call me anytime and wake me up if they cancel a flight. The few minutes making alternate arrangements (which may or may not be the flight they protected me on) is worth it. I can easily go back to sleep, but I am also usually protecting upgrades, routings, or critical seat assignments that if I didn't receive my cancellation call from AA, I would have trouble arranging.
