Am I just unlucky with J-class meal service?
So on my last SYD - SIN A380 flight both my first and second choice of meal were unavailable. Instead they presented me with an 'off-menu' choice of cold gelatinous brown sauce with three pieces of poor-quality chicken and a mushroom in it. To say this looked like it had been scraped from a Y-class meal would do a disservice to what they were probably serving at the back of plane.
This isn't the first time this has happened to me though, and both my previous SQ flight and one a few months before were the same.
I really don't think my expectations are too high that when paying the price of a J-class ticket, they could expect to stock more $3 main courses on-board to avoid this situation. Furthermore, when you have status on the airline, such issues should never happen. Like many of us here I fly often, and I can confidently say that I've never had this happen to me on BA, QF, EK or CX.
I know that SQ do offer BTC, but messing around on the (now unusable) SQ website to book a special meal is great if you've got the time, but I have an expectation that I shouldn't need to do this.
Should I just get the hint that SQ really don't want me on their flights?!
