If it is an E-ticket issued from your own AP account, then the status will be in the computer. It won't show on the boarding pass.

However, your chance of a upgrade is still very low, after all the SEs. On major routes like YVR-YYZ... the average number of SE on a full flight is 5. Unless they have more than 6 open seats and need to move people, you will unlikely get anything.
