Should take 24-72 hours for your status to reflect online.
You should get a Platinum package in the mail with new card in 4-6 weeks.
In terms of future bookings, I'd wait until your updated status changes online.
You should expect much better upgrades at most locations providing you book at least a midsize vehicle.
You will be able to request - via the Platinum line - terminal pick-ups and upgrade to better vehicle.
Also you will qualify for drive back to terminal and four-hour grace period on rentals, which can be a huge cost saving.
