The AA flier had 10m earned miles. Tom has done 10m BIS and I recall seeing in one article has 50m earned miles. He is UA's No. 1 flyer whereas many AA fliers have 10m+. Indeed AA recently hosted parties for such fliers in several cities across the US. Big difference IMO.

10m BIS is a truly staggering achievement. Even flying 250k miles a year it would take 40 years.
