Thanks everyone for your thoughts, much appreciated.

I will have a Hungarian bank account, for direct deposit of paychecks, and I plan on using my Fidelity ATM card for fee-free withdrawals of cash. I will just be more comfortable knowing I can use my CC when needed.

I have routinely notified them for 1 week - 2 week vacations to Europe, but I have also had my Alaska Airlines VISA cancelled (not just blocked) twice for making purchases while visiting family in California.
