Yes, you sort-of-responded to the question: I just would like
basic functionality: being able to review my itinerary, get FLIFO information that includes gate numbers where available, etc. All things I can do on CX, but BA insists that because I'm not a BAEC customer, I am excluded from having access to that information, joint business or not.
Incidentally, BA/AA/IB have made all sort of promises to customers of all three carriers (i.e. everyone, not only elites) about flying on another joint business carrier. This includes "Superior customer experience and service
integration", "Making it simple" ("The aim is to align policies where possible to make it easy for customers.") etc. It's all in the document linked above.
