Im in the same situation as the OP.

Going to Thailand for 8 days in JAnuary.

Want to do 5 beach days, 3 days in BKK and then fly home.

Was thinking of doing Phuket for the beach days but starting to have second thoughts.

Would love some input - Critreria for my "Beach" desination selection:

Thai airways has to service the nearest airport
We're beach loungers - ie., not divers. Wife and i prefer amazing sand and scenery
We like action but not a hectic scene
