Spanish Methode Champenoise is not Champagne, American "Champagne" is not Champagne, Cava is not Champagne and when Delta Stewardesses offer "Champagne" it should actually be Champagne and not sparkling wine that is very different.
Champagne is a regional trade mark. There are lots of regional trade marks. Just because it is not from that region, does not mean that the quality is lacking. Perhaps next time, ask for sparkling wine from the Champagne region and you might get what you want.
