Can you change your entire itinerary to full J if available.. even on different days?
i haven't done it myself but i believe the free change is only for the same flight if you paid a F/J fare but are in Y, you can call in to get yourself moved to J if it's an AC leg, unless there's a 'major' schedule change that allows you to fiddle with your itinerary for free
