I just had mine annual full body screening by my dermatologist last month and was thinking of starting a thread just like this, about sharing opinions with professionals and experts you know, thanks OP.
At the end, I asked him, very jovially what he thought of this TSA scanner stuff. I tried being very easy-going to try not to influence his opinion.
He got this very serious look on his face. I imagined he was wrestling with something along the lines of "do I tell my patient the truth and risk an argument or losing them as a patient for 'supporting the terrorists.'"
I smiled and added, noticing his expression, "so, ah, you're like on-the-fence...fifty-fifty on the issue?"
He looked straight in my eye, his serious expression turning slightly afraid, "I think there's going to be a problem with cancer."
Needless to say he told me I had the right to opt-out but I quickly put him at ease that I was totally disgusted with this too and that I've contacted politicians about it. I also told him about the ZBV's (Z Backscatter Vans) that will undoubtedly pose a much scarier threat being that they're under the radar, no opt out possible, and use higher levels of radiation, with no limitations of passing over people. He hadn't heard of them.
