Sorry for the long-delayed reply. Too busy at work recently and not much time for surfing

Bora Bora is fine for a few days but it does get a bit dull. To be honest the same is true of French Polynesia as a whole so it might make sense to combine the visit with somewhere like Easter Island (amazing) using LAN or the Cook Islands or the Marquesas which are very unspoiled indeed.

That said, in French Polynesia, I like Vahine Island very much (http://www.vahine-island.com) and it's very gay friendly.

Moorea is beautiful and there are some decent affordable hotels on Moorea too. And if you like to dive, the the drift dives in Rangiora are amazing
