Unless they've changed things in the last couple of months, that's incorrect. If they're flying DL to the U.S., they check-in at Terminal 5, clear security and take the shuttle bus to boarding area G. I've done this multiple times.

I didn't think there was a Hampton Inn at FCO. Are you talking about the Hilton Garden Inn?
