We recently spent 3 nights in Rome and stayed at the Excelsior. The Eden is closer to the Spanish Steps and so forth - but only about a 5 minute walk closer. The Eden does have a rooftop bar and dining venue - which the other two SPG properties do not have. The Excelsior was very nice - and I think somewhat more "formal" than the Eden. We did not go into the St. Regis.
