Wierdest thing, I arrived at JFK on friday for a weekend run to see friends in LA and get some sun, only to realise i left my Drivers license (only photo ID i carry domestic) on my copier at home back in Brooklyn. I went to the AA check-in to rebook for a later flight, instead the clerk asked me "what i had". This was startling, but welcome. I provided my boarding pass from my aa.com check-in, AA/citi cc and debit card, my AAdvantage card and my NW cc. The clerk asked me to wait, i was confused... but who was i to rock the boat. The clerk returned about 5 minutes later and before i could even ask her what the verdict was .... she prints me out a new boarding pass marked for a "security selectee" status. After gliding thru security, i was boarding the flight and presented the boarding pass. the reader stopped and i could visibly see "passenger security checked" and the attendant promptly clicking thru and told me to enjoy my flight.

My return through Long Beach was even easier,after waiting for a supervisor, he wrote "selectee" on my pre-printed aa.com boarding pass and walked me over to security, where i wasnt stopped at all.

At the gate no additional attention was paid to what the supervisor had written.

Not to get anyone in trouble .. or to "poo poo" on the people who made my life alittle easier by forcing me to re-book (which i was fully prepared to do) but it seems just a little too easy to get on 2 planes with 2,500 miles worth of fuel without any photo ID.
