I suppose this has always been a bit of a problem in the past, not with a spouse since that's one guest, but say a spouse and two adult daughters.

In fact there was a thread here last year over what constituted family, e.g. could I have taken both parents and a brother into the lounge, or could my wife (who had my name) have taken _her_ parents and her married sister?

Why can't they just say that if you claim to be married, you're married!?
