sorry to ask a question in the middle of your thread, but what is the 500pt plat points? is it that if you have an amex or spg plat you automatically get 500 free points or is there somewhere where you need to register for this promo?

i'm staying at the sheraton for 4-5 nights avg for the next 7 weeks and trying to maximize my points. currently, i have the amex plat and have already signed up for their status.
