AFAIK, the NYC police is not overly aggressive when it comes to the LGBT community. Several years back I had a friend attacked near the projects on
17th Street and local precident on 20th street was invaluable in helping him with the police report and other resources to avail himself to.

I'd like to know officially why the police raided the bar. If it was for "sex" I have an issue with that. While getting groped in the dark by a total stranger is not for me I don't see it as reason for a raid.

But the timing was not good even if there was probable cause. No major crime was going to occur that night (I doubt that a murder or rape would have taken place that night at the Eagle) so there was no need for immediate police action.
