I've just earned E for the first time in my life (I was Prestige for a year back in '99 or so).

I'm trying to select my privileges, and I'm struggling with the language around the status miles bonus:

When you choose this Select Privilege, you'll receive Bonus Air Canada Status Miles, which will qualify for your 2012 Air Canada Top Tier status.

Air Canada Status Miles are also Aeroplan Miles, which can be redeemed for Aeroplan Rewards. Bonus Miles offered with this Select Privilege are not cumulative; if you've been awarded Air Canada Prestige, Elite or Super Elite status after March 1, 2011 and had previously selected or received this Select Privilege as part of your previous status, you will only retain the Bonus Miles awarded with your most recent status.

It's currently 2011. Assuming in the year 2012 I want to try to earn E status for 2013, do these miles help me? Or will I get another option to pick them early in calendar 2012, in which case there's no point in picking them now?
