There are only 3 rooms up there down a private hallway. Room had a high ceiling but was otherwise not different except I felt special being up there.
Last night I was on a cheapo AAA breakfast rate and got some lame room assignment in the tower opposite the one with the club. The FD agent then asked me if I wanted club access. I politely told him I'd actually prefer a club room which he then gave me with an excuse the the VIP manager is not doing his/her job in room assignments and that he could 'squeeze me in.' I noticed in the morning around 7 am only 3 rooms on the floor had papers outside the door so I suspect they were not that full?? Not that it's a precise indicator of course.
I am certainly not letting that ruin my perception of the property other than to advise that one needs to be firm with the FD if you do not get 32nd floor club room as a Diamond. Service for breakfast was excellent with a to go cup offered for coffee without asking. Overall, I very much enjoy the property and find it far better than the La Jolla property.
I would much prefer the new tower. The rooms are the same but are in better condition. You also have a better view on the bay side rooms.
