The main constraint for LH's food in First is their cost-cutting. The amount that StarChefs can spend on food for one pax is very little - and that shows: There are no quality ingredients used and hence the outcome is quite mediocre. Yes, there are a lot of things that don't work in the air but Lufthansa who used to be quite good years back, has lost its edge. Champagnes and wines have also gotten their upper limit in terms of price and the whole food & beverage offering is pretty similar or even worse to what I would find in Business Class on most other airlines. My personal solution to the problem is to maximize sleep on board and forgo the 'food' options. The last low was reached when LH culled the nice chocolate box and replaced it with tacky pre-packed items on overnight flights...
