The TSA has never AFAIK guaranteed that you'd be screened by the same gendered screener only that they'd make every effort to. Not having at least one male and one female screener available at every checkpoint in bigger airports at all times is unacceptable. If I were a woman and it came down to the NoS or a male screener it'd be the only time I'd volunteer for the NoS.
