We want to fly from PDX to GCM. Arrive 10/08/11, leave 10/15/11.

We have miles on Alaska (plus companion tix) and CO.

I can find reward travel with red eye on CO (well, on AS as well) but it usually involves a 10 hour layover....CO has flights PDX/GCM for 8 hours total travel time but I can't seem to get near that for reward travel.

I don't have enough points on CO for international travel (just bought pdx - bon tix with them!) but wanted to use the points.com program to try to sell/trade the alaska ones if I could get good flights on CO.

Any suggestions? Do I check CO's site every day seeing if they open more seats for a 14 hour or less travel time (vs the red eye 18 hour travel time I see today)?

If there is any availability on the dates you want (even with a nasty layover) then I would go ahead and book it. You can waitlist for the other flight that you actually want, and if reward inventory pops up then you can nab it. You will have to talk to someone on the phone and pay the telephone booking fee though :/
