If you spend $10,000 with Citi, you can accummulate between 10,000 and 12,000 pts (if you strictly use it to buy groceries, gas and other items accumulating 1.2 pts/$). 10,000 to 12,000 equals $133 to $160 in travel or $100 to $120 in GC's (sometimes even less if you redeem for $25 or $50 GC's). So Cap1 points here are worth anywhere between 25 and 50% more than TYP's. AF fee Cap1=$69, AF Citi TYP with 1.2 pts/$=$125. The no AF options with Citi obviously do not have same redemption or earning value as above.
You missed a key component of the "AF Citi TYP Card". With the AF card (Premier), the $10,000 in spend can earn you atleast 20,000 TY points when matched with flight points (this is flyertalk afterall) - not the 10,000-12,000 you mentioned. You currently get a 25% discount when redeeming those points for air travel. In layman's terms, that $10k spend can buy/earn you a ticket costing $266.00. This beats any other program redemption. Also, there is a 15% discount when buying tickets through their travel partner. The TY program may not be what it was during its hay day, but for air travel, IMHO beats any bank rewards program currently in effect.
