Back in 2005 I was flying PVG-BCN on the infamous Air Plus Comet (later just Air Comet, later just another bankrupt airline). It was meant to be a direct flight, but sometimes it would land somewhere to refuel. It was Berlin on the BCN-PVG leg, without leaving the aircraft, so before taking off from PVG I asked a FA whether we'd stop anywhere, and she said "certainly not". But we did land in Moscow (I think it was SVO) at about 4AM, where they let us out and opened a duty free shop just for us. That was my first "visit" to Russia.
Two years later I was meant to be flying BCN-CDG-SGN, but due to a delayed first leg I missed my connection and AF booked me on 2 KE flights, CDG-ICN & ICN-SGN. Since I was going to reach my destination 9 hours later than expected, I was planning to make a few calls once in ICN, but my mobile phone wasn't compatible in South Korea, so I had to go through immigration, exchange money and buy a prepaid card to use at a phone booth in the terminal. I only went outside the building for a couple of minutes, and that's all I've seen of the country so far.
