Plane only makes sense if you are transiting or around the Heathrow area.
+1 to taking first if it can be had for only a bit more than standard on an advance ticket. (And lots of the operators have been having promos for discounts on first lately, it seems.) Anything over two hours, and I feel cramped in standard.
