Has this madness died down? The article at http://www.breakingtravelnews.com/ne...r-cancer-fears says that "It is mandatory for passengers to go through the full body scanners at Manchester, Gatwick and Heathrow airports, and staff there have been told that anyone who refuses should not be allowed to board", however there were no scanners at LHR T5 as of last month.

Incidentally, I agree with Mr. Aguirre, UCSF doctors, etc. and will not do anything that will increase my chance of getting cancer, even if infinitesimal or as-of-yet-unquantified. So if BA's LHR T5 gets the scanners, and you can't opt out, I opt out of BA/LHR.
