I was battlefield upgraded tonight (7-4) from my exit row seat at the gate (ATL-IND flt 698) but new ticket came out as another aisle seat further up in economy and not first class...

So, I kindly ask the gate agent what happened and she (and the redcoat next to her) stated that I was traveling on an award ticket and that lower medallions would automatically clear before me. I stated that I thought that Diamonds would be higher in the upgrade list over any other medallion not traveling on a YBM fare and they said that wasn't correct...

Am I missing something, did Delta change the rules or what?

If someone with access can please check the list I would appreciate it...
