I was a manager at a Residence Inn. We professionally cleaned all rooms with a dog. This included carpet cleaning, drapery cleaning, upholstery cleaning, and cleaning all the linens, bedskirt, pillows, etc. There is a fair amount of labor/cost associated with this. The process was the same whether the guest stayed 1 night or 1 year. As a pet allergy sufferer, I appreciated the fact that this process was followed. A Resisence Inn is intended to be an extended stay hotel. The pet fee makes sense to a long-term guest, but not so much to the one night guest. I was lucky since the majority of the guests at my hotel were long term residents of the property.
