At SEA last month resident aliens were not allowed in the US citizen lines
(used to be ok years ago), not even if travelling with family who were
citizens. The airports you've entered the US at may switch over at some
point to the less friendly options, at least it seems to be the general
trend for so many things at airports in the US these days.
