The flight was very pleasant and I liked the service, but you could tell it was not F. The beds were comfortable for me. The lay-over was OK but on the way out I had to pay to get into the other lounge to get my shower ($10). I could not find the concierge.
I had 2 interesting luggage experiences. I went PIT-YYZ and when I checked in I was told that my bag would get checked through to SYD. The agent even put an "en transit" tag on the bag to show me that I did not have to pick it up. When I landed in YYZ I was told that this was a domestic connection and I would need to exit through customs and re-enter. I was walking past the baggage claim when I thought I would ask an agent about my bag. He basically told me that it is hit or miss if the baggage handlers put my bag on the connection and that I should hand around and see if it turns up. Of course it did, so thank god I asked! I think took it through customs and re-checked it.
One the way back I was flying SYD-YVR-LAX and I was in SYD duty free and decided to buy some wine. When I told them my flight they said they would need to seal the wine so when I go through security they will not confiscate it. When I got to YVR security going to LAX they told me that they would accept the seal if I had a domestic connection, but as it was an international connection they would not allow the wine!
I would definitely fly AC again on this flight. Overall I would say it was a B, and yes I brought my own PJs!
