Although the odds of that seat remaining free are slim, unless the seats further forward are better in some way (bulk-head) then why not at least take the chance and try?

There's only a limited number of E+ rows, so even the difference between the front and back rows is only maybe a minute or two when it comes to deplaning, which is generally the only real difference between the rows excluding the exits/bulkhead.
