They say CO has the best customer service because???
I had to match to CO PLT because I had already failed a previous UA challenge)--so I try to fly CO over UA during the "business as usual" period to ensure upgrade priority. Although I'm 6/6 on elite upgrades so far ^
Anyway, one change that I am really enjoying is that UACO allows top tier members to make free confirmed same-day flight changes.
I'm doing a mileage run to MHT tonight and I saw that for 4.00 more, my return flight could be changed from MHT-EWR-SFO to MHT-EWR-BOS-SFO all on CO metal. BOS-SFO looked incredibly empty, so I figured I'd do it. Made the change online and figured I'd just call to ask about the mileage redeposit.
I had used miles to upgrade the original flight, so that was the original problem. I had asked to get them redeposited by the CO agent and just use my Platinum Upgrades. It took her 15-20 minutes to come back with the info that they could be redeposited.
I was speaking with a very sharp toned and rude agent, who apparently didn't even know miles could be redeposited under any circumstances. This woman also told me "I don't know what you did, but there were two tickets issued here." It then dawned on me that I could have been charged twice. She refused to say if I was. All I attempted to do was make a change online. Informed her of that and she said "Yeah, next time call us here, don't do it online." Does the system on CO usually have this problem? Why do it online then if it causes so much confusion?
Next, she decided to not inform me that they took away my SFO-EWR upgrade for this evening-despite only changing the return ticket. Really? Had to call back on that one, despite her telling me it was settled.
I normally avoid confrontation because I know that agents can notate things, but I told the lady flat out I thought she was being rude. After some back and forth, I told her thanks for the help and to have a good night. Was the least I could do as a gentleman after flat out telling her she was being rude. I left out uninformed.
I then called back about 10 minutes later after I noticed the upgrade was pulled, and a friendly agent put the upgrade back within 2 minutes. Didn't even have to explain the situation.
He also confirmed I was only charged $4.00 additional for the change.^
The only question I would leave here is--does it normally take a few days for miles to be redeposited?
Thanks. I look forward to flying United. CO, not so sure.
