I wonder if a little reason would work with ATT. "I've been a great customer since 199x." I know you can't unlock an iPhone which is why I mooched by brother/friend's old Blackberry off them as a phone for Europe. Can't you cut some slack on the BB? You can also buy unlock codes for a Blackberry cheaply off EBay.
