Picked up a 1-month old 2011 Genesis at OGG off ES. My impressions so far:
The Good:
- Very quiet and solid ride - much less road noise than the 2011 300 I just drove
- Lots of power
- With the exception of a few pieces, the interior looks and feels luxurious
- Smart key - keyless ignition
The Not-So-Good:
- Interior door handles feel like the cheap chrome-covered plastic that they are
- I thought the steering wheel covering was OK; the center armrest covering seemed cheap
- Connected my iPad (1st gen) to the USB port; got a USB error
- No backup camera or parking sensors unless you buy the premium and tech packages (another $8K in options)
- Tilt steering wheel only? No telescoping feature unless you get the above packages.
- Trunk release doesn't open the trunk lid fully (like the 300)
- Agree with the observations on the weak HVAC - AC seemed to struggle to cool the interior
- Also agree on the mediocre base audio system
It may seem like a lot of negatives, but I'm really nitpicking here...I think the 2011 300 is still my top Premium choice, but the Genesis is a very close second. I have yet to drive a Lacrosse...
